END OF THE YEAR MAKEOVER

Has it really been seven months since I’ve written on this blog? Well, I’m back to share a makeover that has been two years in the making but was worth the wait!

Let’s start with the before images….always painful for the client :), but such fun to see how far we have come!

The room is large so our biggest challenge was how to orient the furniture. Once that was determined, the rest of the details fell into place.

Here is what it looks like now!

Quite a difference, eh? Facing the sofa towards the windows maximized the view and opened up the room for kids to play and friends to mingle.

We also added a patterned rug to break up the monotony of the carpet.

The addition of a plant gave the room height and defined this corner of the room. And this print gave the eye a focal point as you walked into the room.

One part of the room that morphed over time was the area by the stairs. We considered another chair, but once the sofa and pouf were added I realized we needed another surface for adding light and knickknacks. :) Something to tie the mantle and the rest of the room.

Soooo…I pulled the client’s desk from the kitchen area and styled it with some additional lighting and personalized items.

With such a large room, these personal items were important to soften the space and create places for the eye to land. Let’s take a look at a few more.

There you have it folks. A room worth the wait! What do you think?
