SNAPSHOTS

A few of you have asked what I have been up to these days. Life. Design. A year in Kansas. In a nutshell it's been good. I am growing and stretching and realize I have a lot to learn. I haven't blogged in awhile because well, most of my projects are in process. Maybe this fall or winter I'll have more to share, but in the meantime...here is what's been happening.

BEAUTY WITH KIDS

BEAUTY WITH KIDS

It's hard to believe that I've known this family less than a year. Last February they contacted me with a desire to revamp their main floor living areas and we quickly became friends. Let's take a gander at how things looked early last year.

THE TALKING ROOM

THE TALKING ROOM

Speaking of fireplaces, one of my favorite families (you might remember their living room transformation - those blue chairs!) asked me to help transform their Talking Room. I know I say this every time, but it truly is one of my favorite rooms and to sit with this family and talk by the fireplace is a special treat.

Let's start with some befores.

NEW NORWEIGN

NEW NORWEIGN

Well, I do live in Minnesota, so you shouldn't be surprised that another Scandinavian influenced makeover is hitting the blog. However, this one was more of a 'tweak what we have' scenario. Right up my alley. Here is where we started.

BLUE SUEDE (well...velvet) CHAIRS

BLUE SUEDE (well...velvet) CHAIRS

I know I say this about every project, but this one has been a lot of fun. My client was ready for a sophisticated yet comfy look for their formal living room. A place to host friends for coffee, yet comfortably lounge with their own family of six. Oh and she was up for anything...my kind of client.

FARMHOUSE FUN

FARMHOUSE FUN

This fall has been a bit unpredictable, but the one thing I've known for sure is that I wanted to get my little decorator hands on my Aunt Jean's farmhouse. My folks had visited my aunt in August and casually mentioned that she seemed ready for a change in her living room. After seeing photos of the space, I immediately started planning the update.

THE LEGACY ROOM

THE LEGACY ROOM

Well, our next stop is my folks dining room. When I arrived (back in May) my parents had recently swapped out carpet for hardwood floors. The results were wonderful and the room only needed a few minor tweaks. Here is my dad showing off the new floors. Or is he just showing off? Love that guy! :)

FRUITS OF MY (our) LABOR

FRUITS OF MY (our) LABOR

Yesterday was a rewarding day. I was back at a client's home for a new project and was met by the fruits of 'my' labor. In the spring, my client had hired me for help with her living room and office. Mostly she was struggling with the open shelving and the massive office furniture, but she was open to suggestions on making the rooms more cohesive.

HOME TWEAK HOME

HOME TWEAK HOME

I didn't grow up in Kansas, but my parent's home in Overland Park is certainly a place of fond memories. For seventeen years, their home has been the cornerstone for holidays, summer visits, and countless activities. And to say my parents stay busy with friends and visitors is an understatement. So earlier this year (after deciding she had had enough of the floral couches) my mom expressed a desire to freshen up their home decor.

NEW NANTUCKET

NEW NANTUCKET

My dear friend and her husband are beyond gifted at remodeling homes (including their own) but they recently reached out for help with the finishing touches to their living room space. They desired for the room to more accurately represent their laid back Nantucket style and my friend wanted more of her favorite blues on display. You better believe I was on board!
